Eminent cartoonist R K Laxman passes away at 94. Eminent cartoonist R K Laxman passed away today at a Pune hospital at the age of 94. Laxman, , a current employee of The Times Of India, was admitted to the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital last week after suffering from a urinary infection and chest-related problems that led to a multi-organ failure. His condition worsened on Sunday and he was put on life support. Through his iconic character of 'The Common Man', Laxman has held a mirror to the society by creating satire targeting politicians for more than five decades. However, of late he has stopped sketching political cartoons. A Magsaysay laureate, Laxman's cartoons have regaled generations since 1950s till a few years ago when he stopped drawing due to ill health. Source : news.yahoo.com
